# Words with Mia Words with Mia is a calm word search game for iPhone, iPad and Android. It combines a new daily puzzle with a 400-level Word Path, themed puzzle books, 21 game modes and word pools in twenty languages. There is no timer and no opponent. The game is published by OLYMPHEON B.V., an independent studio in the Netherlands, and is available from the [App Store](https://apps.apple.com/app/words-with-mia-word-search/id6790388151) and [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.olympheon.wordswithmia). It is designed for players aged 13 and up. The studio site is [olympheon.com](https://olympheon.com/words-with-mia/). ## How the game works Players find hidden words by swiping across letters in a grid, or by tapping the first and the last letter. Words hide in eight directions: across, down and diagonally, forwards and backwards. There is no general timer, no lives, no energy system and no in-game currency. Only two game modes, Blitz and The Fuse, deliberately use time, and they appear a few times across the 400 Word Path levels. The game has three main ways to play: - The daily challenge provides one fresh puzzle each day, derived from the date, so everyone playing in the same language gets the same board. Each weekday has its own format, from The Warm-Up on Monday to Swap Sunday. - The Word Path contains 400 levels per language, played in order. Boards grow from 6×6 to 18×18. Every five levels brings a twist, and from level 50 that twist is a different game mode each time. The last 25 levels are hexagonal Honeycomb boards. - Puzzle books are stamp albums built around one game mode, in sheets of fifteen levels. Five introductory books of fifteen levels are free in the home language; the premium books have 30, 45 or 75 levels. ## Game modes There are 21 game modes: Classic, Frozen Letters, Winding Words, Switch Tiles, Word Web, Blitz, Riddles, Honeycomb, Waterfall, Secret Code, The Sketchbook, The Beaver Dam, The Fuse, The Blueprint, The Surveyor, The Ripple, The Island, The Rule Hunt, The Round World, Word Chains and Opposites. Each mode changes one rule of the classic word search: letters that freeze, words that bend around corners, tiles that swap, hints instead of a word list, a honeycomb instead of a grid. ## Daily challenge and Sparky Sparky is the player's streak flame. It counts across languages: playing the daily puzzle in any supported language keeps the streak alive. One missed day can be restored by watching a short ad if the streak was at least two days. The daily challenge and Sparky are free in every language and there is one optional evening reminder. ## Languages Words with Mia can be played in 21 languages, each with its own word pool and its own collectable stamp: Dutch, Flemish, British, American, Canadian and Australian English, German, French, Spanish, Brazilian and European Portuguese, Italian, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Indonesian, Finnish, Catalan, Polish, Turkish and Frisian. The app language and the puzzle language are independent. When they differ, the player's own language appears as a small translation beside each word. The home language is chosen during onboarding and can be switched at most once every thirty days; progress per language is kept. Since September 2026 the Dutch app also includes Frisian (Frysk, West Frisian) as a puzzle language: its own pool of Frisian words, each shown with its Dutch translation, its own Word Path, daily puzzle and puzzle books, with the interface staying Dutch. The free game shows an ad only after finishing a new level on the Word Path or in a free book, never before a level, never in the first six new levels and never in the daily challenge. Hints cost a short ad that the player starts deliberately. Public prices on the website (Dutch storefront): - Home Pass: € 4.99 per month or € 24.99 per year. Opens the whole Word Path and every puzzle book in one chosen language and removes the ads in between. - World Pass: € 7.99 per month or € 39.99 per year. Does the same in all 21 languages. - Single puzzle book: € 1.99 for a 30-level book or € 2.99 for a 75-level book as a one-time purchase, without ads in that book. Internet access is needed to synchronise progress, show leaderboards and play ads. An account is optional and is created by signing in with Apple or Google. It is needed only to carry progress between devices, to add friends or to appear on the world leaderboard. The player name and friends list are shared with the other OLYMPHEON game Mio Path.
